Setting up Google Ads for a local business in Tashkent

A café in Yunusabad and a ten-location chain across the city need fundamentally different Google Ads setups, yet both are often built from the same template.

Geo-targeting for one location versus a chain

For one location, radius targeting around the address is the most precise setup: set a distance that genuinely matches where customers come from, usually one to three kilometres for a walk-in service business.

For a chain with several locations across Tashkent, split campaigns by district rather than running one city-wide campaign — otherwise one location's ads eat another's budget, and no single ad can show a relevant address and hours for a specific district.

Check 'presence' versus 'interest' targeting in location settings — by default Google can show ads to people interested in Tashkent while physically elsewhere, which is almost always wasted reach for a local business.

Ad scheduling around real operating hours

Showing ads while the business is closed is a common and easily fixed mistake: if a location operates 9 to 20, showing ads at 2am just spends budget on people who can't come right now and may forget by morning.

For appointment-based services — dentistry, beauty salons, auto repair — it's worth shifting the ad schedule a couple of hours ahead of opening to catch people planning a visit for the next day.

Check demand peak hours from data rather than intuition: for a café that might be lunchtime and evening, for an auto shop it might be Monday morning after weekend breakdowns, and bid adjustments should follow actual demand.

Ads with local specificity

Mentioning a district or landmark in the ad copy raises relevance for someone searching for something nearby: 'in Mirzo-Ulugbek' or 'near Buyuk Ipak Yoli metro' outperforms just naming the city.

Call out specific conveniences that decide for the user: parking available, open every day, walk-ins welcome — for a local business this is often a stronger argument than price.

The contact format matters as much as the copy: for the local audience, a Telegram button or a direct phone number extension often produces more enquiries than a link to the site's form.

Linking to Google Business Profile

Ads and the free company profile need to work together: a location extension on an ad connects specifically through a verified Business Profile, and without that link the ad can't show on Google Maps.

Reviews and rating on the listing directly influence the decision to click an ad when a competitor shows alongside it — keep the profile in order in parallel with running ads, not as a separate disconnected task.

Photos on the profile, current hours and the correct business category reduce the share of accidental, irrelevant ad clicks, because the user sees enough information before ever reaching the site.

A realistic budget for local business

For a single location in a residential Tashkent district, a starting test usually fits into 2,000,000–4,000,000 UZS a month — enough to judge whether the channel works at all before increasing spend.

For a central location or a highly competitive field — dentistry, legal services — plan a higher budget, from 5,000,000 UZS, since click prices run noticeably higher there due to competitor density.

Don't scale budget sharply after a few good weeks — let the campaign reach a stable result over at least a month before deciding to increase spend or launch ads for a second location.
