Hosting and a .uz domain: how to choose without overpaying
A domain and hosting are not a one-time purchase but a yearly subscription, and getting this stage wrong costs more than it appears at the start.
.uz or an international zone — which to pick
A .uz domain gives local business recognisability and trust. Registration requires ties to an Uzbek resident or legal entity, handled by a registrar in one or two business days.
International zones — .com, .net — are usually cheaper and need no local ties, but look less established for a purely local business. Choose them if the business plans to operate beyond Uzbekistan, or if the desired .uz name is taken.
The annual cost
A .uz domain runs roughly 100,000–150,000 UZS a year. International zones are cheaper, typically 80,000–120,000 UZS. A brochure site needs a basic hosting plan at 300,000–500,000 UZS a year; an online store with real traffic needs 600,000–1,200,000 UZS a year.
Common mistakes
The domain gets registered to the developer's account rather than the client's — creating a risk of losing control when switching contractors. Register it under your own name or company, even if the studio pays for it.
