Booking apps: complete turnkey functionality

A booking app does the same job as a receptionist on the phone, except it works 24 hours a day and never forgets to send the reminder.

The core booking flow

A customer picks a service, a specialist (or 'anyone available'), and a slot from what's genuinely free, then confirms. The key requirement: the calendar must show only actually available time accounting for existing bookings, not the location's general working hours.

The mistake that undermines the whole app is a calendar that drifts out of sync with a stylist's real schedule if they also take bookings by phone. There needs to be one source of truth — either everything routes through the app, or there's two-way sync with whatever system the stylist manages manually.

Reminders and reducing no-shows

A push reminder 24 hours and 2 hours before the visit is the single most economically valuable feature in this app category: unannounced no-shows directly cost salons and clinics the revenue of an empty slot another customer could have taken.

Letting a customer cancel or reschedule directly from the reminder push in one tap cuts no-shows further than a reminder alone — it gives customers an easy path to warn ahead instead of simply not showing up.

Deposits and cancellation handling

For higher-ticket visits (dental work, certain cosmetic procedures) a partial deposit via Payme or Click at booking noticeably cuts no-shows — people skip visits less often once they've already paid something toward them.

Cancellation rules need deciding in advance and showing to the customer at booking time: how many hours ahead cancellation is free, what happens to a deposit on a late reschedule. Without these built into the app, staff end up explaining them verbally in every disputed case.

Timeline and budget

A booking app with a calendar, push reminders and an admin panel for one location runs 20,000,000-32,000,000 UZS over 8-10 weeks. For a chain with multiple locations and staff, plus deposits and utilisation analytics, 40,000,000-55,000,000 UZS over 12-14 weeks.

For a salon with one or two stylists, starting with an online booking widget on the website instead of a standalone app is often the sounder call — the job is the same, and an install requirement for a one-off booking turns away part of the new-customer flow.
