An AI-based chatbot: how it changes customer communication

A button bot rigidly steers customers down pre-set branches. An AI bot understands a question asked in the customer's own words and answers it based on the company's knowledge base.

The core difference

A regular bot only recognizes pre-programmed phrasings and buttons; one step off script and the customer hits a dead end. An AI bot understands the meaning of a question even with imprecise wording, typos, or mixed languages in one message.

Second, an AI bot can link questions within a dialogue: if a customer follows up on a previous answer, the bot understands the context instead of restarting the conversation, which button scripts often force.

What the answer is based on

An AI bot answers not 'from memory' but from the company's own knowledge base — price lists, documents, service descriptions, past support conversations. This matters: the model does not invent facts about your business, it retrieves them from uploaded materials.

The knowledge base needs maintenance: if prices or terms change, the documents must be updated or the bot keeps answering from stale data.

Where an AI bot is especially useful

Initial consultation on a complex product, where customer questions vary widely and do not fit a dozen standard phrasings. A rigid script keeps hitting 'question not understood' here, while an AI bot copes far better.

Multilingual support without writing separate answers for each language: the model understands a question in Russian, Uzbek or English and replies in the same language if the knowledge base supports it.

Boundaries and risks

An AI bot should not make decisions with financial consequences — refunds, discounts, order cancellations — without human confirmation; those need an explicit handoff to an operator, not an autonomous model reply.

Such a bot costs more than a regular one: from 8M UZS for a basic version with a connected knowledge base, rising with document volume and accuracy requirements.
