Tilda or custom development: an honest comparison
The builder-versus-development argument is meaningless without a task. The same company can correctly choose differently at different stages.
Where Tilda genuinely wins
Speed and predictability: a landing page in days, a known price, and a tidy design from ready blocks without a designer. For validating demand it is the right tool — you pay to test a hypothesis, not to own an asset.
The second strength is team independence: a marketer edits copy and builds campaign pages without waiting in a developer queue, and iteration speed often matters more than technical advantages.
Where the ceiling starts
Custom logic — a calculator with your own formula, a customer account area, a catalogue with many filters, stock sync with 1C — is either impossible or done via workarounds that break on platform updates.
Then performance and SEO at scale: URL structure, fine-grained speed work and control over how pages are served are bounded by the platform. Irrelevant at five pages, decisive at two hundred.
The honest verdict
Choose the builder if you are validating a niche, need a campaign landing page, have a tight budget, or the site is essentially a presentation with a form.
Choose development when the site participates in operations, needs integrations, or you are investing seriously in organic traffic over a three-year horizon. Do not switch just because it feels overdue: a working Tilda producing enquiries beats a rebuilt site that does not.
