Client mistakes when ordering a website

Most failed websites were built by competent people. The problem usually starts on the client side, before the contract is signed.

Choosing on price alone

Quotes for one brief can vary three-fold, and the cheapest almost always means reduced scope: no copy, no mobile work, no integrations, no support.

Ask every bidder for an itemised estimate. The gap between a 3,499,000 UZS landing page and something a third of the price is usually missing scope, not greed.

Copying a competitor

You copy the outcome of decisions whose context you do not know — different audience, different margins, and possibly a site that brings them nothing.

Use references for ideas, then validate with your own customers: ask five regulars what mattered when they chose you.

Cutting content and skipping analytics

Great design with borrowed copy does not sell. Visitors are looking for whether your service fits and what it costs, and stock photography signals you have nothing real to show.

Install Google Analytics and Yandex.Metrica before launch, and budget for traffic. A site with no promotion is an expensive card that only people you send the link to ever see.
