Local SEO and Google Maps: ranking for 'near me' searches
For a salon, clinic, cafe or service business, the local pack brings more customers than classic SEO — and you can start for free.
Why local results matter more offline
When someone searches 'dentist near me' or 'car service Chilanzar', Google shows a map block with three businesses above the regular results, and most clicks go there.
You can enter that block without ranking your website, because the business profile ranks by its own rules.
Setting up the business profile
Fill in everything: precise category, address, hours, phone, website, description, services and service area. Empty fields directly reduce your chances of making the top three.
Upload real photos regularly — interior, entrance, team, work. Profiles with fresh activity appear noticeably more often.
Reviews are the main factor
Review count, recency and rating directly affect local ranking. Twenty fresh reviews outrank five old ones.
Reply to every review, including negative ones. A calm substantive reply to criticism builds more trust than ten five-star ratings.
Do not buy reviews: Google detects them and penalises the entire profile.
NAP consistency
Name, address and phone must be identical everywhere: website, Google, directories, social profiles. Different phone formats or address abbreviations dilute the signal.
Check that the address on your site is real text rather than an image, and marked up with schema.org LocalBusiness.
